On 9-11 April 2015, PAN visited Pensiangan to share PAN’s vision to the family. Pensiangan is a small town located in the Interior Division of Sabah. It is one of the most rural towns in Sabah located deep in the jungles of Borneo. The nearest coastline is about 115 kilometres away and it is also situated less than 20 kilometres from the Indonesian border.
The early settlers of Pensiangan named Pensiangan as ‘ PENSIANGON ‘ derived from the confluence of two rivers, the Tagol and Saliu which runs through the village. Pensiangan means situated in between two rivers. Since yersteryears and until today, the Murut tribes ease themselves by putting up shelters or houses at river estuaries and along river banks.
On the map, this is where it is:
We traveled about 4 hours to Salung to catch the boat that took us to Pensiangan. It was a 2 hour boat ride. This is a short clip of pictures taken during our visit:
On 25-26 August 2015, we returned to Pensiangan District, this time to Kg. Silungai, Pagalungan to appoint Pensiangan’s PAN Centre Committee. Here is a short clip of our visit:
